Community Tau - in service of drug addict recovering

Foundation Poverello - after noticing local needsinitiated founding of TAU Community as place for drug addict recovering. In this initiative, Foundation close cooperates with Comunnity Milosrdni Otac from Medjugorje, which also helps the Foundation and very sucssesfuly works in service of drug addict recovering almost two decades. Poverello also cooperates with many other international institutions using their lasting several decades experience. Poverello-Tau do not take into any new experiments but lean on positive experiences of other organizations of the same profile, and does completely implement their successful methods.

To find true Sense of Life

 Community TAU is the community of LIFE, therefore it holds man with all of his problems, difficulties, opposites and unfulfilled wishes.

Community TAU:

• respect, support, gets better and spiritualize a man;
• helps self-knowledge, self-accepting, well-being and change;
• supports person in its efforts according together living, no matter of ideological, religious, cultural and political differences.

Treating of Complete Person

The goal of Community TAU is treatment of complete person. Entrance to Community TAU could only be voluntary and in free will. That is the only way for Community to support stray person to find an adequate help.

There is no defined lasting of recovering process. In case of addiction (drug, alcohol) we can't talk on usual way about therapy lasting, recipes and criteria.

The goal of Community TAU is treatment of complete person, which assumes that we take into consideration private history of every person, his habits, abilities and opportunities. In case of addiction person have to re-born from slavery to life. And life claims time. To reestablishe a personality takes different phases: to learn to bring face to face difficulties which come from people's contacts, to exceed a luck of self-confidence, to learn how to make decides of life ideals and principles. All of these means that methods and lasting of recovering process depends on every person's individuality.

Reconcile to Life

Community TAU arised on bases of conviction that addicted person is at existential crises; therefore Community creates clime which helps his reconcile to life. Underlining the ideals through self - evaluation and assessing other people, young person is induced to seek fundamental human and social values, which may be base to rebuild his life. It is forbidden any political engagement, nationalism, and religious forcing in Community.

Discipline and Learning

Discipline is irreplaceable support for fragile addicted person, disabled to rule with itself. Discipline is clearly defined, strict and simple: it is forbidden to consume drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, psyche - pharmacies and usage of radio, television, Internet and telephone.

Sense of learning is reactivating person's mental mechanism after some period of stoppage. Leaders of Community have a mission to help self - development of every person.

Creativity and Work

Work hasn't an economical character, but educational. Members of Community do not draw pay and they haven't right on compensation for work, because the work is one of the several means of therapy, and it is necessary in terms of balance between "obligation" and "right". Work induce "homo faber" and helps development of self - confidence. Besides various handcrafts (carpentry, construction, gardening and horticulture, agriculture, cooking) it is fully expressed art creativity (painting, sculpturing, handiwork).

Reinvestigating of Life

In contacts with members and leaders of Community, there is continuously reinvestigating of life - during work, meals, free time, and in bedroom. Two basic demands are: respect and sincerity (which make real, brotherly and community spirit).

Community doesn't live in isolation: we often receive quests, members of various social layers, groups of youngsters, etc. In those cases, members of Community give their testimonies, about their way out of slavery and addiction.

More mature members can be put in charge to contact with exterior world (purchase for Community etc).

Community as a Therapy

Community Tau doesn't use drugs therapies or classical medical treatments to cure persons, but use "community as a therapy", because Community Tau is the Community of Life: it offers all kinds of help which can motivate person's existence (sincere, continuous self - interrogation).

To become a free Man

It is not easy to be free man. Free man takes his fate into his own hands, makes his own decides, and choose values. Slavery to habits is specially dangerous slavery, because of that there are no cigarettes, alcohol, drugs and music in Community. Instead of those we prefer reading. We draw answers to questions about human from pure springs, not from television, radio, newspaper or Internet (which are favorable for manipulations and which pollute person).

Pray as a strong Means of recovering

Communicate respects everyone's religious convictions, but supports strongly those members who are religious, and who knows that prayer is a great support for person to re-find himself. On his way to freedom, believer is seeking help and support from God, who can everything and who's real liberator.

Entering the Community Tau

 In the beginning, drug addicted person-who determined for this kind of treatment, stops all contacts with world as he could easier concentrate on himself and his new surroundings. Telephone contact is possible only by responsible person in Community, and this is possible only in urgent situations. Meetings with family are theoretically possible once in four or five months, according to Community leaders' estimates. Family can receive information only in certain days and on way that is chosen by Community leaders.

Member of Community could be replaced to another community, which is using the same methods, if that is necessary for any member's recovering. Stay in Community is free of cost, but we always count on material support of parents and other good people. At least two preparing meetings are necessary for entrance the Community. During these meetings, candidate meets goals, rules, agenda, and conditions and demands in Community. Candidate can account to entrance to Community only in case he's willing to except conditions and if he shows enough strong decision.

Someone can be released from Community after he has showed certain signs of recovering. Community helps its member to re-include in social life (reestablish contacts with external world, internal preparation, courses). Releasing from Community is happening on bases of reconciled opinions of Community, community leaders and family members.
